March 31-April 2, 2017: Spring Alpaca Spectacular 2017. Located at the Eastern States Exposition Center in Springfield, MA. Here we go again!! We keep on growing, expanding & innovating. The 2017 event will welcome a 3rd show to the mix of NAAS, the Expo & the Bay State Small Breeder Blast (BSSBB)! The Blast will be for breeders that have under 25 AOA registered females and will take place on Friday March 31st, 2017. As in 2016, The BSSBB will be joined by everyone's favorites, NAAS beginning it's 17th year and the 7th year of the Expo. All 3 shows happening under 1 roof in 1 weekend! The shows will be run by Alpaca Show Management Services which is a blending of show coordinator veterans Kevin O'Leary and Scott Young who together have run over 60 Alpaca Shows across the country. In 2017 check in day is Thursday, March 30th. We will follow the same format used in 2016 however, we will slow the process down considerably. On Friday we will start with 2 female rings. The female alpacas will show in the NAAS ring and after exiting the ring they will enter the Expo female ring. We will continue most likely through the fawn females on Friday. Saturday we open all 4 rings finishing the female classes and beginning the male classes, staggering the color groups should make things easier for farms that are heavy in 1 color group. Sunday we will be back to 2 rings as we finish the male judging. This process should give exhibitors a chance to breathe and socialize! Color champions will be back in the line up where they belong at the end of each color group. Now where will the Blast go you ask? The 2 empty rings on Friday March 31st will host the small breeder show. We will be doing both a halter show and a walking fleece show for the BSSBB. Small breeders have it made, you can elect to participate in the Blast and leave at the conclusion or you could stay for NAAS and/or the Expo as well.
