November 24-25, 2017: Open Alpaca Barn. In Oregon's wine country, just off Hwy 99W, take a break from the Thanksgiving winery tours to meet the summer's alpaca babies and their mothers. Get nose to nose with less expensive "fiber boys" - alpacas for fiber artists, 4-H, pasture mowers. Get your hands on luxurious alpaca products: fleece for handspinners, yarn for knitters, sweaters, scarves, & more. This is a unique way to entertain your out-of-town company, as well as do some holiday shopping. Visitors can chat with four long-time livestock breeders who've raised llamas, horses, sheep, and goats. March 17-18, 2018: MOPACA Alpaca Show. Located at the American Royal Complex, Governor’s Expo in Kansas City, MO. Free admission and free parking. The annual MOPACA Alpaca Show offers fun for the whole family! Visitors will find approx. 400 alpacas, many vendors who sell products made from alpacas, and demonstrations of spinning and other fiber arts. Talk to alpaca ranchers and learn what it’s like to raise alpacas. Meet alpacas up close – and maybe even get an alpaca kiss or two! See how gentle and smart they are. March 22-25, 2018: AOA National Show. Located at the Peoria Civic Center in Peoria, IL. The Alpaca Owners Association, Inc. (AOA) National Alpaca Show, which draws hundreds of alpaca enthusiasts and fiber artists from across the country, is held in a new geographic location nearly every year. Alpacas from across the country will be featured in the show ring competition. The show will be comprised of classes judging conformation and fleece quality in many categories for both Suri and Huacaya alpacas. May 26-27, 2018: Alpaca Shearing Day & Open Barn. Join EasyGo Farm at Alpacas of Oregon and take a break from the Memorial Day Winery Tours to watch the alpacas get their annual haircuts. Get up close, hand feed them, and handle their luxurious fleece. Shearing Day is Saturday. On Sunday, learn to felt an alpaca gift.
